Pope Urges New World Economic Order

Pope Benedict XVIBy RACHEL DONADIO   New York Times

July 7, 2009

VATICAN CITYPope Benedict XVI on Tuesday called for a radical rethinking of the global economy, criticizing a growing divide between rich and poor and urging the establishment of a “world political authority” to oversee the economy and work for the “common good.”

He criticized the current economic system, “where the pernicious effects of sin are evident,” and urged financiers in particular to “rediscover the genuinely ethical foundation of their activity.”

He also called for “greater social responsibility” on the part of business.

  4. The Roman Catholic Church owns more land globally than any other organization on the planet.
    And the "Corps of the Pontifical Swiss Guard"
    any connection to Basel ?

    "And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

    And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

    And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

    And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

    And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up."

  5. This was my favorite part of the article:

    "More than two years in the making, “Caritas et Veritate,” or “Charity in Truth,” is Benedict’s third encyclical since he became pope in 2005. Filled with terms like “globalization,” “market economy,” “outsourcing,” “labor unions” and “alternative energy,” it is not surprising that the Italian media reported that the Vatican was having difficulty translating the 144-page document into Latin."

    funnier than hell

  10. Oz, I believe that would make another "prophecy" of the bible come true.... One universal religion. The bible was probably written by early powers that be to keep the peons in line. They have to make the prophecies foretold come true to keep the "faithful" just that.. faithful, docile and willing to follow the leaders anywhere. At least, that is my take ;)
