Fight Hunger -- Take Back Your Roots! Grow a Garden!

GETTING TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM!

This is great stuff by Mr. Ron Finley, a Guerilla Gardener in South Los Angeles. I located this story at Zengardner's site -- http://www.zengardner.com/ron-finley-a-guerilla-gardener-in-south-central-la/

Ron Finley: A Guerilla Gardener in South Central LA

Most people cannot afford Organic "Designer" produce markets. The food is marked up 3X what it should be. You have to pay EXTRA so the food is not "Sprayed" with pesticides and chemicals. Why should only the elite be able to afford Organic food? Inner city communities (read -- the poor and govt. dependent) can only afford the Non-Food, Drive Through, Dollar Menu "Fast Food" crap, that provides ZERO food value. This all exacerbates the obesity crisis in America.

In the inner cities (and elsewhere), people have to obtain "permission" to plant and grow their own food -- How ridiculous is this?! SEE? Another system of "control", keeping people down.

Let's help educate our children what our grandmothers' knew about providing food for their children? Growing food has become a "Lost Art", and it needs to be rediscovered.

If people can learn to feed themselves, then WE can "Take Back" what Big AG (Monsanto) have taken away from people. This is the first time in history, when an entire society is relying on big corporations to feed us. And WE SEE what kind of food they desire for us to eat. Its like a feed lot with the animals, where they're "fattened up" before going to slaughter.

Grok the parallels here. This is a deep subject. When a garden is planted, it not only provides food and creates and sustains healthy minds and bodies...it also attracts bees, butterflies, and birds. A former "dead" area, becomes "alive". Gardens and healthy food are a beautiful thing to behold.

Do what you can in your own area. I'm going to begin where I live, helping folks plant gardens.

We all know that lack of food, and crap food is a huge problem, but it is also the Solution, as Mr. Finley states.

  1. The best use of energy right now Boom. It also should become co-opt opportunity for those in urban areas to join small micro-economies and fund barter and off the grid transactions. As near a perfect economy as possible.

Thanks for "liking" the story, Puddy!

"Control" of food (& water -- basic "Necessities for life) is as important as control of the power to coin money. Perhaps even more so. You can see what has happened to the American people, going from an agricultural society to manufacturing, and then to an information society. How ironic that The People have lost the critical information regarding their food sources. Thus, they have become first, Dependent on others, second, poisoned by others, and third, dumbed down by the poisons to the point they resemble today's sleeping sheeple.

  3. "I have spoken today of a vision and the obstacles to its realization. More than a century ago a young Frenchman, Alexis de Tocqueville, visited America. After that visit he predicted that the two great powers of the future world would be, on one hand, the United States, which would be built, as he said, ``by the plowshare,'' and, on the other, Russia, which would go forward, again, as he said, ``by the sword.'' Yet need it be so? Cannot swords be turned to plowshares? Can we and all nations not live in peace? In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world. And yet, I ask you, is not an alien force already among us? What could be more alien to the universal aspirations of our peoples than war and the threat of war?"

  4. Bluebeam? After the rape and pillaging, this would be the logical move. The plan I predicted sees just such an event. After the wills have been broken and hardship have reduced the numbers to pre-calculated numbers, you drop the new world order on the ragged survivors. The elite cockroaches climb out from their rocks and take their positions in the governors circle and rule in a time of peace.

If only I could have read Reagan's mind when he made that speech. After the UFO sighting wasn't it?

Your predicted plan entrails alien gardeners of south sea delicacies?

  8. I grow shit loads of tomatoes & some other veggies and herbs.
Always have to give away bags of tommies cause they breed like rabbits. lol I don't use any sprays or pesticides at all. Some veggies will attract certain bugs but there are heaps of natural ways to get rid of them ( eg- Mix abit of water, olive oil & bit of vinegar & spray on).
No need with the tommies tho, just squash the ones that have been attacked into the soil. Once the season comes good again I just churn the soil & walla, way too many tommie plants to deal with. Gotta give those away as well! :)

    YumYum
