Wednesday’s Convention Theme: “We Can Change It” (haha, they won't change a thing)
Tampa, Fla. – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus today announced the theme and speakers for Wednesday, August 29, the third night of next week’s 2012 Republican National Convention. The theme, said Priebus, will be “We Can Change It.”
“We want to remind Americans that we don’t have to settle for four more years of high unemployment, low pay and deep debt,” Priebus said. “We will devote Wednesday night to showing the country that Mitt Romney’s ‘Plan for a Stronger Middle Class’ will restore our country as the best place in the world to find a job, start a business or hire a worker.”
Priebus said the Wednesday night program “will show that the Romney approach is both optimistic and achievable.” The Romney plan will work toward energy independence, ensure that middle-class Americans have the skills to succeed, pursue trade that works for America, cut the deficit and champion small business.
“Having suffered through the longest sustained period of high unemployment since the Great Depression, Americans already know we can do better,” said Republican Convention CEO William Harris. “Next Wednesday, Republicans will lay out Mitt Romney’s plan to do just that.”
Priebus and Harris announced the following schedule for Wednesday, August 29:

It was all so much fun as i I knew there was no danger, I controlled the game and I could die over and over again. So I acted the part well, thinking I was Vic Morrow. ReplyDeleteYea PD, all the boys played war games. I never joined them, of course, but I did almost have my eye taken out by a real arrow at the age of 6 while playing cowboys and indians. When I was older I did get into the divide and conquer game of Empire called "Risk" which I played with my cousin. Mostly because I liked the brightly colored board and games pieces :)

I met Morrow at Terminal Island Mini-Sec prison in Long Beach back in the 70s - Tim Leary and a couple other famous peeps was there at the table.
ReplyDeleteI was visiting Steve Eastwood, the manager of my band who spent three years there--he was in with this in-crowd as well.
Leary was a real friendly smiling guy, just bubbly happy. Morrow just sat there with his jaw muscles flexing...not a happy camper.
His eyes did brighten up when Sharlene came over. "Eyeing little girls with bad intent".
I used to watch COMBAT as a kid. We had a veritable militia unit called THE HAWKEYES from the time I was about 8, until HS...that's why all the other guys joined the Marines and shipped out to Nam on graduation day.
I've told that story before here...they all thought they were John Wayne going back to Bataan. I put flowers in my hair and headed to San Francisco.

ReplyDeleteI ended up not working on the Rob Bottin segment of the Twilight Zone movie...I played tag between Stan Winston and Bottin shows in those days. I can't remember the movie Stan was making at the time...
But I recall Rob describing his ideas that went into his sequence while working on THE THING with him - the Cartoon TV characters popping out of the TV set into the living room etc.
He could make you laugh just describing such things...
Anyway, my favorite part of TZ the Movie was the opening sequence, following the dragonfly which finally splats on the truck window...because by hoopity, I had done storyboards at home of almost the same thing a few years before...{???} I KNOW I never showed them to any of the pro guys though...Mine started out with a little fish getting eaten by a bigger fish, and bigger fishes in a row until one jumps out and snaps at the dragonfly but is caught mid leap by a dinosaur, and then the bigger dinosaur and on and on while the dragon fly flits about, and finally ends up flying over a hill into the modern world...[survival of the fittest deal].
Anyway, seeing it on screen at the showing of that movie blew my mind.
