One protester, Jeanne Mansfield – who said she was standing so close to the women sprayed in the face that her own eyes burned – claimed other NYPD officers had expressed disbelief at the actions of the senior officer.
In a vivid account of the incident in the Boston Review, Mansfield said: "A white-shirt, now known to be NYPD Lieutenant Anthony Bologna, comes from the left, walks straight up to the three young girls at the front of the crowd, and pepper-sprays them in the face for a few seconds, continuing as they scream 'No! Why are you doing that?!'"
Despite her attempts to turn away from the "unavoidable" spray, Mansfield, who took part in Saturday's march with her boyfriend on a whim after "stumbling across" it, said she suffered burning and temporary blindness in her left eye and tears streaming down her face.
She continued: "In the street I shout for water to rinse my eyes or
give to the girls on the ground. But no one responds. One of the blue-shirts, tall and bald, stares in disbelief and says, 'I can't believe he just fuckin' maced her.'"
Recently watched a documentary on Auschwitz. In it they interviewed several of the Nazi SS guards and those that were in the killing squads in Russia. They asked them if they felt anything as they gunned down women and children. They answered "No." When asked to elaborate they answered that it is what they were taught since early in life, to hate the Jews, and by extension anyone else that was deemed an enemy of the state. There was one that expressed regret, but now, not at the time he was doing the killing.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of us have it within us to separate ourselves from the suffering of others. We do it every day. It only needs to be cultivated to blossom into full blown genocide. Some of us won't go there. We put a reasonable limit on how much compassion we feel and what we can do to alleviate others suffering. We see this every day too. We can't help every homeless person we pass. We only can do what we can.
But the PTB know what lies underneath and they know that fear breeds hate. So they set it up so those that those that are easily manipulated can be formed into groups. The Dems hate the Pubs, Whites hate the Blacks, the Haves hate the Have-Nots, and on and on.
I would imagine this cop sees not a women but what he perceives as his enemy. To him she's a sickness. Something that has to be eliminated to make things right. She might as well have been a cockroach in his kitchen. She could of been holding a baby in her arms, it wouldn't matter. He's been condition not to feel any compassion for those he's been told are his enemy. She could have been his daughter, it wouldn't have mattered. He is the guard at Auschwitz.
Of course the scary thing is the PTB have cultivated an army of these cretins.

The NYPD has a lot of police, having 100 of them out sick might not be a big deal.Perhaps if it was for that precinct. I can imagine they get at least that many everyday calling in sick. It would be interesting to know though if an additional 100 called in sick and how we would know they did this to protest.
ReplyDeleteI lost a get deal of respect for the NYPD when they barred their own from participating in the 9/11 ceremonies. I called them before the ceremonies and asked a "what if" and what would they do if their brothers tried to crash the ceremonies. We got that answer over on 9/11/11. Even as they arrested protesters the police would admit they believed 9/11 was an inside job. Yet that didn't stop them from arresting them.
It's a crazy world we live in.

Milgram's work was and is important, for it dispelled the myth once and for all that there was something special in the character of the German people that allowed them to go collectively over to the dark side.
What was nurtured in Germany in the 30s and 40s has been reintroduced in Amerika, and has been at work on a slow drip since the days of "anti-communism" and has now ramped up with the phony "war on terrorism".

We are yet to come to terms with this in it's fullest picture, even here on COTO - to realize and actualize in our beings that this is a Pathological Society, on par with any that have ever 'graced' this planet.
