Cashless baby steps plus more !

The Treasury Department has announced that all United States Government payments will be made electronically to consumers. This includes all payments for Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Veterans, and Railroad Retirement benefits. The new payments will be ether direct deposit into a bank account or though a Treasury's Direct Express debit card.

Today's announcement is a win-win for the American public because it makes government more convenient and cost-effective while generating significant savings for the country," says OMB Director Peter Orszag. The plan is estimated to save the government 303 million dollars in the first five years, including 48 million on annual postage.

Some, however, think change may not come easy. David Certner, Legislative Policy Director for AARP, said, ""This will be a challenging transition for those who have been receiving Social Security for years and are not familiar with the [new options]." It is his concern that seniors that are not receiving direct deposit fro social security already, 85% of seniors do, may have a harder time converting to the new system.

Another concern is the Post Office, with a few billion dollars loss last year, 48 million would be a large hit. This will be another part of the debate to find a way to save the bleeding Postal Service.

The Treasury Department has made sure of a leisurely timetable for this changeover. New recipients of Social Security and other government benefits as of March 1, 2011 will receive their benefits electronically. If you're already receiving benefits, you have until March 1, 2013 to convert. There is a call center to answer all possible questions. by Scotty Hendricks,Wash. DC

Southwest Airlines employee finds human heads on their way to Fort Worth

By SCOTT GORDON

A Southwest Airlines employee called police after finding 40 to 60 human heads in a package set to be transported to a Fort Worth medical research company, the airline said.

"It wasn't labeled or packaged properly," said Ashley Rogers, a Southwest spokeswoman. "They called the local authorities."

The incident happened in Little Rock, Ark., last Wednesday, she said.

Little Rock police turned the heads over to the county coroner, who questions where they came from and if they were properly obtained.

  3. King, You are getting grim with the heads :)

Halliburton-Obama no dif. Bush and Obama had many conversations when passing the baton. I know you are no more surprised than I was.

I can still find the OPED piece I wrote on Obama holding tight to every Exec. Order Bush ever made and FISA spying. No more Watergates when they are all on the same team.
