The scramble for Iraq's 'sweet oil'

By Nicole Johnston, Al Jazeera reporter

With proven oil reserves of around 112 billion barrels and up to another 150 billion barrels of probable reserves, Iraq is the greatest untapped prize for international oil companies.

To put that in context, if Iraq does turn out to have around 300 billion barrels of oil, it will rival the world's biggest producer Saudi Arabia - which has around 160 billion barrels of proven reserves.

  1. Indeed Peter.

The vast majority of Americans have become nothing more than credulous, programed, thoughtless servile sheep.

This is a brief story I've told once before.

Several years ago I stated to my republican neighbor that close to "eight billion" dollars of the Iraqi reconstruction money had simply vanished. My neighbors response "they all do it." Meaning that both the dim-o-crats and the re-thug-licans were just as complicit, and he's right. However, being the Rethugs were in office this neighbor didn't seem ta care all that much. His answer was rather crass, and as long as it wasn't effecting he or his family it didn't matter.

Fast forward to 2009, and this neighbors 401k is now a 201 and
    he's crying the Blues.

    Eat the rich?
