Texas Flood.....the long version 2012

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWLw7nozO_U]

I remember the flooding in Texas when I arrived in 1976 in Brazoria and Harris County and seeing the buffalo bayou overun and flood waters stack cars under the SW Freeway underpasses like seashells in the surf.

It rained for thirty days or so at 1-2 inches per day with the Medical Center, Astrodome and Astroworld underwater. I never saw a flash flood like those before that time.

As predicted Texas is getting nailed since January and the rains continue today for southern areas.

... LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN FALL POSSIBLE TODAY...

AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE AREA TODAY AND HELP GENERATE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. A FEW STORMS MAY PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL IN EXCESS OF AN INCH. SOME OF THIS RAIN COULD CAUSE SOME FLOODING... ESPECIALLY STREET FLOODING IN URBAN AREAS. THE STORM SYSTEM WILL BE SLOW MOVING SO THE THREAT OF HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE DURING THE OVER NIGHT HOURS. RAINFALL WILL TAPER OFF WEST OF THE RIO GRANDE LATE TONIGHT BUT RAIN CHANCES WILL CONTINUE EAST OF THE RIVER FOR MUCH OF THURSDAY.

I think it will run until September this year. Aided by another tropical storm surge and rains from a Padre Island landfall moving north.

A Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 went missing during a demonstration flight in Indonesia on 9 May 2012, disappearing from radar at 1450 local time (0750 UTC) in the mountainous Bogor region south of Jakarta. At least 44 people were on board the aircraft, which took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (WIHH/HLP) in Jakarta at 1400 local time (0700 UTC) for what was planned to be a 30-minute flight. The aircraft disappeared from radar after the pilot requested permission to descend from an altitude of 10,000 ft/3,000 m to 6,000 ft/1,800 m as part of the planned flight path demonstrations. The aircraft has not yet been located, but aviation officials believe that it may have crashed in a remote location. There has also been no contact with the passengers. Search crews have been dispatched to Bogor’s Mount Salak range to search for possible wreckage.

Heavy rainfall overnight on 9 May 2012 caused flooding in Ternate City, which is located in North Maluku province on the island of Ternate. The flood waters carried volcanic debris from the December 2011 eruption of Mount Gamalama. The flooding prompted the evacuation of government offices and schools as well as residential areas of the town. Rescue teams have deployed to the area and have launched search operations for five missing residents. At least three fatalities have been confirmed thus far.
