Tweet about COICA

URGENT: The Senate is passing a bill to censor the Internet. And nobody's spoken out against it yet! Can you help? http://bit.ly/bASCTL

Please note that this COICA bill is not the same as Joe Lieberman's Internet Kill Switch. Apparently, both measures are circulating to be fought at the same time!

COICA was apparently pushed by Hollywood and the recording industry. Now, I'm a guy who does believe in and support intellectual property rights. I knew they were trying to work up a measure to protect IP. But, I thought they were pressing to fight Chinese piracy and copyright infringement!

--You don't fight piracy in China by censoring Americans' internet access!!! This bill is a monster, showing that Hollywood's effort became misguided and ran off the rails!!

Stop COICA, and then we've gotta fight Lieberman's bill too!

  1. Done! Thanks John!

I used the following language in my email to friends:

"If specific Rights are self-evident, and Constitutionally guaranteed, then we all must demand that our use of the World-Wide Web remain "uncensored"...at least by blatant legislation designed to infringe upon our Rights!

Please sign this petition, and forward to others who also see the importance of a free internet space for the world's peoples.

Thanks! It will take you about 15 seconds to sign the petition, and a minute or two to forward on to others, bringing this important information to their awareness".

If you like it, use it.

  2. Thanks, guys! It's tough to fathom the moronic blockheads who are into internet censorship. There is a maxim from Napoleon to never forbid that which you cannot prevent.

In real life, all of their schemes for internet censorship are unlikely to stop the activity that they'd like to stop; it will continue, but be driven underground or overseas. (And, BTW, you don't have to physically go elsewhere -- I mean the TRAFFIC will have to be routed differently, but that's a cross to bear which is borne by electrons.)

All they will accomplish is to inconvenience the home audience and those who are less sophisticated about re-routing their internet traffic. At the same time, they raise issues about restraint of trade, and human rights abuse.

Don't they know about the original architecture of the internet? It was designed to stay up and running during a nuclear war. The traffic can find routes around any single point of failure.

Sort of like, don't they know about the original design of the World Trade Center? It was designed to withstand the impact of jet liners. This was public knowledge before 9/11, and they think we're so dumb we don't know that.

    Moronic blockheads? Cretins! Sociopaths! Grrrr....

  3. An observation --

Truth is like water in all its forms. Sometimes it evaporates, and takes flight, but it does not disappear from the world. Sooner or later it condenses and falls like a hard rain amidst thunder and lightening, or it may strike like a blinding hailstorm, maybe manifest again like a soft snow sifting down through the lies and blanketing the landscape with a cold inevitability...

Surprise!!! Ye Liars, you haughty and foolish weather modifiers. Nature owns YOU! What goes up, will come back down, and will not and cannot be stopped.

Back in its liquid form, Truth runs down the mountains, fills the rivers and streams, and "flows" into every low spot. A pebble in every pool radiates outwards, sending the Shock of the Truth to every shore.

Over, under, around and through, the Truth cannot be denied forever. Truth will one day drown its enemies in a flood. Count on it.

All parched Life will drink it up and grow strong. To the antagonists and criminals it is their poison. Their watershed moment awaits, as surely as the Water of Truth will return to the lands from which it springs. It is the best cleanser of the dirty in our world.

I'm betting on it, are you?

  4. O.K. So I added a few flowery descriptions to my 4th grader's 'The Water Cycle' science quiz.

    None-the-less, the Truth comes out.

  8. I don't think we should feel relieved or be lulled back into complacency. (Do you trust the U.S. Senate? Okay, now you see it my way...) I was jogged about COICA just today by Chinese dissidents. There is evident concern about the COICA bill, because they also had a Chinese translation (of a Huffington Post article) that they were circulating.

Let's face it -- this came across a mailing list that's for commemorating Tiananmen Square. That means that the post is "out of band" or off topic.

Maybe they know something that we don't? (From first hand experience of internet censorship?)

Well anyway, they jogged me, so I jogged COTO.

  9. That's the terrific analogy and observation Boom! TOPS buddy.

It rings on so many levels as we are people are water, truth is elementary, the committee is using alchemy and lies to disguise it but it can never be destroyed much as matter itself. Hard rain, light snow? Yeah but likely in a monumental Noachic storm style deluge for 40-40. Let's all put on our COTOSPEEDO's and take the swim.

  10. I'm not a defeatist John. I do beleive this is BS but I am posting something on this very issue.

My theory is no go for it until all UN decide on copyright. It goes to the deeper core of the e-genda

  11. “I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I as president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank.”~Obama, the campaigner
