My reference was for who let the illegal mexicans into this country referred to the democrat party and that was all I was picking at the democrats for allowing our borders to be unguarded to the point of allowing some 15 million plus illegal aliens, not to mention the other 30 or 40 million legal aliens who side with them ready to do violence to us on our own streets. I have a problem with not feeling safe inside my own nation and I see nothing wrong with pointing this out or who is behind it, but does this make me a horrible bad person?

I respect others and hope they will do the same, but some just can't stick to the issues and have to make derrogatory comments about people personally and I can take it for only so long and I will give it back, but I am not usually the one firing the first shot. JG: my "people" came to a German community. It was an OPTION (in those days) to sprache Englisch. The older boy (my great-great Grandfather) spoke broken English (he died YEARS before I was born) until the day he died.

LaRaza, I believe, started with Cesar Chavez and his support for the cause of the Mexican farmworkers.
If I am correct on that score, then LaRaza has more to do with REACTING to the racism of white people and the treatment of Mexican farmworkers by rich, white landowners than it has to do with any RACE issue. It was about learning to take pride in your people and your culture after having been made to feel less-than by economic circumstances beyond your individual control.
But I can see where a bunch of uneducated, stupid Texans can misinterpret that circumstance, turn it into another golden opportunity to don some sheets and burn some crosses.

It is how the word is USED (in context)-- "stereotyping" is dangerous... but "stereotypes" exist for a reason. BTW, C-man totally blew it with his "response." I also understand that when we run into "stereotypes" who cause us grief... we tend to not LIKE them.

As for LaRaza, their goal is to promote the Latina agenda. If they want solidarity and many of them are illegal aliens and demanding the same rights as American citizens, why don't they go back to Mexico and fight for their native people? They should take back their country and let us take back ours or join with us as united American citizens and stop trying to force us to accept their demands and their "agenda." And once again, I'm not talking about hard working latino families who are here legally and trying to eek out a living like the rest of us. I'm talking about the radicals who should get the hell out.

ReplyDeleteBecause of my German last name, I've been called square-head, Kraut, Heine, Hun... and even "Nazi" (by some rancorous black dudes). It's only the latter that really pissed me off. I got a big, square Kraut head on my otherwise medium-sized body. I dunno... mebbe a genetic thing. Some of my large, portly Deutscher cousins have no necks. They REALLY got square heads.
As to La Raza... I think Daisy (video above) nailed it. It's just a xenophobic rant. Getting pissed of at "illegals" is dum. They are the LEAST of our worries in the USA... although here in krakkerland, they keep a pretty low profile. There WERE people here with the same last name... unrelated... but they took the boys in... because they were German (this was a VERY German community).
The family in the "Old Country" scraped together everything they could spare to send the boys here. Later, the boys had enough to bring "Mutti und Vatti" (Momma and Pappa) over here. They were both over 60 and never DID learn to sprache Englisch. They are buried here... and a few years ago, I planted a stone from the churchyard at Krumbach-uber-Giessen on their graves and cried. I know they must have missed their Heimat (homeland)... but things were just too bad there.
I tried to convince my family to go BACK there a few years ago... for the same reason... but-- no dice. Too many ties here. The Germans were very kind about my VERY bad German... which I only started learning about 10 years ago. Young German University students speak (and write) English MUCH better than most USA Uni students do.
Like it or not, I am an "American." I don't have much use for most of the people living here... but the Great Lakes... Jazz Music... The Blues... TREES... all those things- make me miss my own Heimat when I'm not here. I guess you can't take the country out of the boy. So I got a soft spot in my heart for "Immigrants" and especially REFUGEES... which is what most of the "illegals" ARE.
There was a time when strangers were welcome here. If we lose that, we lose part of the genius of our culture... and we are ALL the poorer for it.
