The Foxification of OpEdNews and other “Progressive” Betrayals

OEN gagby Scott Creighton

OpEdNews owner, Rob Kall, has weighed in on the "von Brunn/domestic terrorist/extremist" topic. Instead of defending the First Amendment, he takes the Fox News game plan of turning this horrible event into justification to attack liberal dissenters on the web.

Snake oil salesman and charlatan extraordinaire, Rob Kall, has weighed in on the "von Brunn/domestic terrorist/extremist" topic.

Do you think this "progressive" leader of a "liberal" website would have come down on the side of free-speech, the constitution, and pointing out the government's using this situation as a catalyst for the passage of the very Homegrown Terrorism bill that Rob himself opposed a year ago?

You think he would stand up for the right of freedom of expression just so long as that expression doesn't call for violence? Do you think he would call for the need of a "well informed population" for the preservation of a free and open democracy?

You think Rob Kall, biofeedback snake oil peddler and motivational speaker, would take a stand against the targeting of some of the very people that helped him build his website empire? These same people that he just happened to kick out of the site they helped him make just days before all this "extremist violence" started happening?

Hell no.  Kall is selling us out faster than Geithner with a new Bailout Plan at a banker country club Meet-and-Greet.  And in the process, Kall is calling us "mentally ill", dangerous, and in need of being "cleaned up" and taken completely off the internet.

That's right, "Pay-Go" loving Rob Kall is taking the Fox News game plan of turning this horrible event into justification to attack liberal dissenters on the web, and spinning the exact same message just from the DLC/Obamalove side of the coin. He is, in effect, inviting Team DLC Obama™ Brand to "come on in" and sweep up the "lefty extremists" in their "preventive detention" drag nets.

Rob is labeling us dissenters as mentally ill "radicalized extremists" and seems to be supporting the notion that our voices must be silenced on the internet.
The extremist left wing blogosphere... composed of anarchists, extremist libertarians and conspiracy theorists rails about Zionist plots... And these people are also interested in their gun rights and fighting.... it's clear they are extremists.

Unfortunately, more than 5% of the population has emotional or mental illness. Rob Kall

Now, go back and read Rob's opening lines in his article and you will understand what he is doing...
Last week, a right wing extremist known to be mentally ill murdered an abortion doctor, who Bill O'Reilly repeatedly called "Tiller the baby killer." Rob Kall

That's Rob Kall; a "progressive, tough, liberal" demonizing tens millions of Americans (actually it is the majority of Americans) who question the official story of the events of 9/11 (like 41 counter intelligence officials (that link from Rob's own website) and 689 Architects and Engineers and even former members of the 9/11 Commission "at some level of the government, at some point in time…there was an agreement not to tell the truth about what happened" John Farmer ) as told by Philip Zelikow (Executive Director of the 9/11 Commission Report and creater of the strategy of the Global War on Terror).  The same Rob Kall who is also calling for a "clean up web" campaign...
In the late '90's, Tipper Gore campaigned to get Musicians to clean up their lyrics act. Perhaps it's time for another campaign. Rob Kall

This is Kall's "Ode to Gatekeeping".

No longer satisfied with simply applying this type of behavior to his Op Ed News ("progressive, tough, Liberals" - what a joke) now it seems that Rob Kall is helping sell the party-line to his readers so that it will be more easily accepted when this kind of censorship takes place all across the world wide web.  And he's not just talking about preventing sites from calling for violence, he's actually talking about preventing them from addressing certain types of information.
A climate in which the idea of talking about the problem raises the risk of exacerbating that problem is dangerousRob Kall

So according to Rob Kall, even talking about the problems is dangerous and must be stopped, I guess for our own protection.  Silencing people who have informed yet "dissenting" opinions about what is happening in our country is the best policy for the "tough liberal" Rob.

Perhaps that is why he purged regulars who hold "extreme" viewpoints from his website just a few weeks ago.  Yes, in what must have been the "luckiest" move of his career, Rob just "happened" to ban several regular contributors, writers, and even members of his staff right before all of this "radical extremism" started unfolding.
We were saddened by the extreme position Rady took. Rob Kall

So maybe Rob just got lucky when he purged all the "extreme" people from his site a few weeks ago... or maybe he had a little "heads up" from his new boss...
A government source told me, "continued media coverage only perpetuates the problem." Rob Kall

I would be curious to know who is "government source is and just when they had that little conversation...

Bottom line is that Rob Kall's attempt to help usher in a government censorship of the web is disgusting. He is exposing himself once again, as the party-line sycophant we have all come to know.

Less offensive, but still pretty despicable, are several little memes he throws into his diatribe such as the notion that people don't really have a reason to be angry in this country right now; dismissing their legitimate feeling of anger over what is happening with the economy, jobs,  and the bailouts (this obvious war on the middle class that the current administration is waging).

But of course, that is "extremist" talk in the insulated hired shill land of Rob Kall.

Quite frankly I don't see why any self-respecting liberal writer would want to submit anything more than a grocery list to Op Ed News for publication. All they are doing is putting money in Rob's pocket and giving him more viewers to read his conformist crap.

If it were only Rob and his DLC/rightwing Democrats (usually featured on Fox News) writing for Op Ed News, he wouldn't get as many hits as the average WordPress site, and that would be the end of Rob's Golden Microphone days.

But Rob Kall does get one thing right.

If we want to keep his brand of "extremist" unconstitutional censorship promoting sites from infecting the average "progressive" reader out there, we have to completely ignore them and stop supporting them with submissions and page views.

We should call on his more enlightened contributors (Cindy Sheehan, David Swanson, George Washington to name a few) to suspend their support of his site entirely and that means no visits and more importantly, no articles for Kall to profit from.

For without their work giving him credibility, the readers on Op Ed News would certainly see through Kall's apologist propaganda campaign that much quicker.

And time is something we are quickly running out of.

Especially since the "progressive tough liberals" are selling us out as fast as they possibly can to the same people that write the daily talking points for Fox News. (I wonder if they email them, or if Steve Leser just brings them home to Rob pinned to his lapel next to his little American flag).

  1. Talking about problems is the essence of democracy. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press (or cyberspace) are our only avenues of redress.

Rob's collaboration with the forces of darkness should be pretty clear to most by now.

  2. Why isn't that special? KlownKar is turning Von Brunn into his very own Herschel Grynszpan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Grynszpan to incite his very own cyber-Kristallnacht.

How much do you suppose he would object to a real carbon-world "cleansing" of the "mentally ill" "extremists," if he could make a buck, that is? Is this reinforcing a stereotype?

    Oy- the IRONY!

  3. Thanks, Scott. Very well done. You mentioned a grocery list? Quick! Someone has submitted one as a comment to Kall's article. It's a risky grocery list. How long will it last? Place your bets. I would submit my own but I was banned.

  4. I posted that quote as a comment to Rob's article for you (first time I've been back there in a week) We'll see if he deletes Sam Adams.

But frankly, who cares? He'll find the go-along-to-get-along crowd plump enough to keep him afloat but when there's no meat in his sandwich his site will have little appeal.

  5. I noticed after the large numbers of responses to Rob's "diary" re the banning that the "thumbs down" option had been removed from the site. Only "thumbs up" allowed now....

At first I thought it was a glitch, but after this long it seems clear it is a demonstration of Rob's new "happy talk" philosophy: Do NOT question authority; Do NOT disagree; Do NOT complain about the party line

  6. I just saw that. That is too funny.

    Rock on, dissenters.

Those that strive to smuttier dissent stoke the flames of revolution more than any dissenter could hope to do.

I can't help but believe that as things continue to deteriorate that they'll be more and more dissenters, do they really think that by demonizing those that are dissatisfied is going to work in their favor? How in the world does this logic work?

  11. Me too jerseyg. Was thinking I could at least respond to it. Though I am not sure I would want to right away because I am so irrationally mentally ill with so much anger just now... From what I've read here though, it certainly appears that he simply does not understand the 1st Amendment. But is siding with the REAL death bringers, the real psychopaths (the government) and their censors preparing for tyranny.

  12. Hey Richard !... Yes, the government is outwardly fascist but to acknowledge that makes you either mentally ill, a conspiracy theorist or a homegrown terrorist. Geez, I guess I'm all three.

I finally got into the first page but not the second. I did get to read his little sycophants responses though. My god they are sickening. I DO LOVE the guy with the grocery list whoever he may be............

Btw Richard... love your little blue star face. It's really cute.. lol...Get thee to the gravitar machine and get your real face on ;)

I had stayed clear of Op Ed Snooze. Had stopped visiting it entirely, in the fuck 'em, ignore 'em spirit.

Then I seen this and just had to go visit. The sycophants that are gathered around Klown Kar Karl is amazing.

Including the few who I have never seen before.

Probably reincarnations of Klown Karl or aptley named Fox Snooze hit, Lesser.

Cheryl I admit to being amazed by. I expected better than that from her. Oh well. C'est La Vie.

  15. Our Richard (medicis) has posted an excellent reply back to kollect kall on his diatribe against civil liberties and the first amendment. I copy and paste it here for all of you to see:

    ________________________________________

    I am accused.

It was mentioned in the article, “The extremist left wing blogosphere (they don't have an effective mainstream media echo chamber presence,) composed of anarchists, extremist libertarians and conspiracy theorists rails about Zionist plots, about a New World Order that aims to imprison Americans in concentration camps, about government as Mordor (the evil entity in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.) And these people are also interested in their gun rights and fighting. There are less of these, and sometimes it's hard to tell if they are right or left wing. But it's clear they are extremists.”

What a lovely indictment. If one believes there is a New World Order a brewing … regardless of the multitude of main stream articles, European and American politicians, financial experts and the like talking about it … well, you're an extremist. IF you believe that the FEMA camps (which are real) have been constructed by our fascist (per definition) government for less than benign reasons …. golly, you are an 'extremist' too. IF you believe the Government Conspiracy Theory of 9/11 is a bogus lie … ka ching... you are an extremist. IF you believe in the rights guaranteed in the 2nd Amendment and the necessity described clearly by our Founding Fathers to defend the Constitution and Republic against the usurpation of the government - which clearly is occurring.... you are an extremist. If you worry that the government is moving towards a position where actual criticism of the government and its controllers (as opposed to officially sanctioned/tolerated 'critical' pablum so characteristic of left-wing gatekeeping sites) will be tantamount to 'treason' …. why then, you're a mentally ill and clearly unfit …. extremist. And heaven forbid that one should mention the obvious and well-documented plots orchestrated by a paranoid, ethnic cleansing (per Ilan Pappe, et. al.) and terror promoting middle eastern government whose tendrils reach into the very heart of the United State's government... then you are discounted as an anti-Semitic extremist.....

If you wonder why.. why so much extreme anti- 1st amendment nonsense is spewed out in response to two tragic deaths committed by two individuals and linked fallaciously to folks like me described in the above paragraph and which ignores the millions of deaths (resulting from a government guilty of the Supreme International War Crime – invading countries to steal resources and control territory in order to initiate even more wars of death and blood) caused by the, oh so sane and respectable, Democrat and Republican led evil Empire assisted by a complicit and complacent populace – why then, you are the worst sort of 'extremist'.

So I stand accused. By an author's use of ad hominem, guilt by association, and derision. Surely to be seen as terror-mongering and hate inspiring in its own right.

    Well planned Intelligence operation?

Theresa wrote: "As in the Federal Murrah Building, Columbine and other what seems to be "random" attacks such as school and church shootings, child abduction and slayings across the country, it is of my concern that these individuals do not act alone, however, that there may be, to a larger extent, a particular cult of sorts that link them? This, however, is just how it seems as most acts of violence appear to be well synchronized to American Pop Culture and events in history."

There is an internal agenda to foist laws upon the people that could not be done without some external driving force. As difficult as it is for some to believe, a large number of the outrageous acts both here and abroad are actually well prepared, planned and state funded Intelligence operations. The mayhem and killings are the tools that the 'power elite' is using to press forward with their well-laid plots. The atrocities are indeed synchronized with a well-prepared legislative agenda, as was demonstrated by the introduction and passage of the Patriot act after the 911 Intelligence operation that combined an urban renewal project via arson mass murder with an insurance collection scheme. After all is said and done, "It paid big!"

Some day the mental health professionals who are programming the 'lone nuts' will need to step out of the background and into the limelight and take a bow for the way that they have been able to use humans and operate them not unlike the remote controlled planes that were flown into the World trade center on 911. The 'cult' that links them all together can be found operating from the offices of the central bankers.

I do appreciate "the other site" allowing each of us to post our articles and comments, but saddened that the sites founder, quite possibly is nothing more than a gatekeeper? Oy!

And let me also get this straight. There are Americans and Scholars alike from all across this country, who are questioning the events of 9/11, and the fascism and tyranny which is ruining this country, and these folks are going to be labeled either mentally ill, conspiracy theorists or homegrown terrorists? There is something terribly wrong with this picture. It's soooo, so OBVIOUS

I wrote: There are more than 16,000 murders in America each year. Why do two right-wing hate crimes provoke this urge to self censorship?

It is more than likely that the rise in heat is due to the incendiary nature of the right wing, and the connivance of Democratic leadership, leaving no place for progressives and those who deplore the Corporate State.

Our 'representatives' are essentially self selected and self-serving. As their narcissism continues to leave the peoples needs unmet, it is irrational to expect a passive response.

I caught some of the banter between the "other guy" on the "other site" and youself, regarding 9/11. The "other guy" doesn't like hearing factual information. Very childish indeed! I guess it's a prerequisite when you're involved in gatekeeping? He's not genuine. Not at all.

I don't want to keep harking on 9/11, COTO is more than that. However, if I could post this link for everyone to read. It might have been posted a few days ago?

You had the war between the states, we had Eureka Stockade.
Apart from the GMO issues, and logging coal use etc, no one here is that upset about much at all.

guess i missed something. maybe it's like what you wrote here at coto rady that you're tired of reading about 9/11...how did you put it? something about the amadeus soundtrack - once a year is enough? maybe it was causing too much friction and static - i've seen that happen. noticing a little static here lately part of the reason i've not chimed in much.

For profit. No more. No less.(er)

Nothing running a popcorn-stand to make a buck. We all gotta make a buck aboard this kapitalist kazoo. But when you start passing off rat-turds as popcorn, be honest. Close down your popcorn stand and go into the rat-turd business.

Oh- it's easier to sell rat-turds if you pass it off as popcorn? My my my. That raises a whole 'nother set of "issues," doesn't it?

So let's get mercenary. "Tough?" Nahhhh. Old hat. Yesterday's news. The blue sock-puppets are on the stage now. No need to counter the "wimpy" image.

"Progressive?" "Liberal?" Also obsolete. Blue-team won! So it should be, "The Voice Of..." now you don't want to say, "status quo" (now that our cronies have access)... because you want to position it as "change you can believe in."

  44. Methinks we spend too much time trouncing Rob Kall. Betrayal is something that pseudo-Jews do. It's programmed into their genetic code. Real Jews, true Torah Jews, would rather walk to their deaths than betray those like themselves.

In fact, they did. Six million times over.

It's okay to poke fun, but we're wasting alot of outrage that should be directed at the source of the problem and are, instead, focusing on a mere sideshow. Rob is Rob. We were fooled. Live and learn.

People who believe in capitalism -- still -- will always try to pull a con on themselves, as well as others. Hence Rob probably truly believes in what he is doing. Everyone who scratches out a living in their corner of "the system" will always end up defending the system that created and made them what they are.

That's what I despise about fascism -- which is really what capitalism is -- everyone ends up sacrificing their integrity through participation. No one can truly love their fellows as long as they are looked at as potential "customers." Fascism spawns lies, liars and lying as a way of life. It's disgusting.

I wish we could all freely trade amongst ourselves using only caring concern and a willingness to act so as to meet the challenges of being a limited human in an infinite field. Alas, each of us has been sucked into different parts of one gargantuan lie, and so we cannot be of much use to those who have been sucked in elsewhere.

Like Rob. He's backpedalling from his original self-righteous position. He's telling stories to himself and others as if those stories had a chance in hell of ringing true to all involved. We have to be less-than so that Rob can feed his fevered ego. And there is a long line of fevered egoes waiting to be fed after being in the proverbial bread line for eight long, miserable years.

It may take us a while, but we need to get to a space in our own heads where we can feel genuine compassion for Rob. He's not an evil person, but, like most of us, suffers from bad programming stemming from a childhood where the blind were lead by the blind.

Combine the dysfunctional with all the societal level stresses of the present moment and, boom...explosive chemistry.

As a person who understands trauma and something about recovering from it, the anger and betrayal that's getting vomitted up is part of the process. Eventually we will heave one last time, our fevers will break and we'll be hungry and normal again. Then we'll be looking for a story to explain what transpired.

If we stick as closely to the truth as possible, we won't end up in the same place as Rob, who might still be selling stories to gullible readers decades from now. Truth trumps stories and, yes, it can take some time for that to occur. However, the sooner we start telling the truth, the less time it takes for the truth to do what it does -- attract everything that's REAL and GOOD back to itself.

So, please, recognize the stories we've been telling ourselves about Rob as just the shadow of hurt and betrayal that we unwittingly walked into. Own your part in that process so that you don't have to have any more "Rob"'s in your life. Let someone else waste their precious time calling Rob everything but what he is in order to avoid owning how deep-down stupid we feel for believing that a human being in this day and age could ever approach anything like good old-fashioned integrity.

We've all been made pretty sick by all that's gone on for so long. It's going to take some time and some heaving to heal. But let's think about that and work towards it.

  46. Rady, thanks for the repost. It raises an eyebrow and in fact I think that OEN has gotten into a pickle. If there's an attempt to "go mainstream," then all Rob needs to do is to provide a rote, formulaic, paint-by-numbers product that conforms to establishment expectations of a left leaning outlet. But at an earlier time, OEN had made the decision that they would allow 9/11 truth posts. I'm foggy about why OEN would kick out the COTO crew but keep GW and others who continue to post along those same lines.

If they want to quell such discussion at OEN, then perhaps they have only kicked out half of the people whom they need to kick out. Somehow, I suspect that they would still find themselves the recipients of such posts no matter how many they kicked out.

The continuing vitality of the Chinese democracy movement -- drawing 150,000 people recently in Hong Kong -- 20 years after Tiananmen Square is an example which shows that while an unwilling listener (in this case the Chinese regime) can shoot messengers, they cannot shoot the message.

COTO crew is messengers. But the message lives even at OEN and isn't going away. I suspect that this entire country has "another think coming."

  47. Volaar makes an excellent point... and Kusumi expands the idea.

The messengers and the critics: always present when a "niche" product/idea/theory goes "mainstream." At the heart is the paradox: what caused the niche to go mainstream is generally a flaw in the mainstream... and the flaw in the niche is often the strength of the mainstream.

The underdog sees a chance to be top dog... and thereby begins to practice all the brutality that caused the former top dog to fall. Without question the "authoritarian" system is most "efficient," but flawed at its heart because increasing authoritarianism causes increased dissent. Increased dissent impairs "efficiency," and so on.

Toward the end of his life, Molotov said that "...China is our only hope," without an open criticism of the Soviet system (or Stalin), he was saying that the Chinese maintained the idealism of Marxian theory beyond "efficiency." Such perceived struggles are nothing more than the ancient dichotomy between the individual and the collective.

The Germans came up with a solution they called Gleichschaltung: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleichschaltung it's OK for everybody to be an "individual," as long as all individuals are the same. As OEN sees the opportunity to go from underdog to top dog, the attempt at "tidying up" the content is a crude attempt at Gleichschaltung.

If the aliens came down and made me king of the world tomorrow, I would make every media outlet in the world play Adam Curtis' documentary, "The Trap."

    http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/trap1.php

Probably only 12% percent of the population would watch it, and only half of them would understand it. Still, it's worth the nearly 3 hours of your life it takes to watch the whole thing... it explains many of the origins of the Orwellian cloud that seems to be hanging over us all.

Clicks-and-eyeballs is simply another paying metric.

  48. Absolutely 100% wrong, from top to bottom.

This has NOTHING to do about Rob Kall and EVERYTHING to do about the preservation of this movement and yes, the people involved.

The ONLY REASON it was written was because Kall just published his article about silencing us and even suggesting censoring the internet.

You would have us think we should keep quiet when the main editor of a "progressive, liberal" entity like OpEd News makes calls like that?

    Wrong.

These "stories" are not about "hurt feelings"... they are facts, and they are the kinds of FACTS that people better WAKE THE FUCK UP and listen too. Your "progressive, liberal" leader is selling you out.

    Many of them are.

And the sooner we get that message out, the better off WE WILL ALL BE.

"suffers from bad programming stemming from a childhood where the blind were lead by the blind."

Really? I tend to think people make choices. And in Rob's case, he's been exposed to all the facts and the papers and the essays that poor Joe-6 Pack never read, so in fact... Rob is EVEN WORSE... because Rob KNOWS HE IS SELLING US OUT.... so take the pseudo-pycho babble someplace else...

Starting to sound like one of Rob's partners in the "happy happy joy joy" motivational speaker business....

"Combine the dysfunctional with all the societal level stresses of the present moment and, boom…explosive chemistry."

I promise you this. You don't know the first thing about history. Nothing. Explosive Chemistry made this fucking country. And every other nation that isn't still run by a dictator or full of IMF debt-slaves....

No sir. You gonna come here and try and shill for Rob, you better come packing bigger than that. At least on my threads.

Like Rady politely said "We have a duty to respond - a duty to ourselves and to each other." Her lightest touch...

Go spin Happy happy joy joy centering messages some place else. We have work to do here. We don't need Prozak here.

On the 7th I revisited rk's rendition of Rome's downfall involving money, politics and religion. Clicked on a header that caught the eye. http://www.opednews.com/articles/Barack-Obama-is-Not-Americ-by-Reynard-Loki-090605-140.html

I flagged robie's post as "irrelevant", the next day I was banned from logging in. Which prompted me to draw(been years), with all due respect to "M".
kall's kangaroo kourt with the the honorable kourt jester on the bench, sitting in The Kourt of(no)Appeals, blurting out, "Guilty, by means of COTO Association," as he slams the gavel down with stars of david flying in every direction with a strawmen "Dark Gallery" jury sitting in the wings yelling, "Order in the Kourt". Sorry you'll have to use your imagination.

After days of sifting music through my brain it jumped out at me.

    Enjoy

  50. I don't know if humans are "superior" to "mere rationality," it's just part of the package. Metrics can be gamed. Just ask any teacher about NCLB (no child left behind)... another miserable failure.

We have finally figured out how to run a 19th Century factory. Applying these principals toward 21st century culture is not working so well. Metrics are good indicators... but you can't jam everything into a data-base. The old business saw is- "you can't manage what you can't measure" ... until you learn that "what you measure is what you get."

The classic perversion of the Golden Rule: "...whoever has the most gold makes the rules." That's why the "free market" is an oxymoron.
