The effect of animal fats on the human body

fat kidsIn the last 100 years, the North American and European diet has changed radically.  The change can be summed up simply: calories from plant foods have been replaced by calories from animal fats. During the same period, rates of degenerative diseases like heart disease, cancer and diabetes has sky rocketed.  Is there a connection?
Here's some evidence there might be.

While degenerative diseases have become common in the west, populations that have not yet adopted this "new and improved" diet are failing to get these diseases at anywhere near the same rate.

Is eating animal fat - beef, chicken, milk, cheese etc. - really that big a deal?

The video presents the science that the meat and dairy industries (and their paid agents in the US Department of Agriculture) would prefer you not learn  http://www.therealfoodchannel.com/page/18.html

This is an astounding video.

  2. Munich... I hate to sound redundant, but truly a great video. I would spread this one around as much as possible. I really enjoy those who question their own reality, then go on to do something profoundly positive for humanity. Walking your talk is everything.

  3. Curious?

Is that fat kid in the pic for real, or is he in a fat costume?

Then again, living in Hawaii, I've seen some real doozers, the kind that use the check out counter as a belly booster. All the ones that load up their shopping cart with white fluffy bread, white rice, canned anything, instant meals, tons of red meat, sugar, soft drinks, donuts, cheerios, cookies, cheap beer, and frozen burritos.

I'd say at least 90% of the people in the US are not the least bit integrated in their thinking, and even much less informed. Big macs are a way of life.

  4. C-man:

Check out Pinky's lecture on Hawai'i'
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nqDkCzwXeY

Pinky and friends have helped me explain things to people that they don't want to believe.

In the case of diet, people have been (literally) fed a lot of crap over the years about how they gotta eat meat and milk (and marshmallows and lard and whatever else they wanna stuff in their fat heads). Like "free markets."

  5. Munich, I use that very picture in my marketing for PCI heartscan for identifying children at risk for CVD. 25% of obese children at age 11 have signs of Atherosclerosis and soft plague.

Tragic beyond words. This runs to my very core. Thanks.

  6. Thank you all for responding.

It is indeed quite a sobering video, and it is amazing what our youth, and the people of this country are consuming.

We are a fast food nation, and the picture of these two young children is just so very sad. It's neglect! I would like to thank the editors of COTO for providing this startling image, which only bolsters the significance of the video. It ought to be a clarion call for our youth and should be shown in schools throughout this country.

Yesterday I was in a local mall and walked by the food court and noticed many, many over weight people, including young children who, on a daily basis, are consuming this saturated crap that they call food.

  7. Thanks for the link waldo... I'll watch the whole thing when I've got the time. It's even more complex... every hawaiian island acts like an independent territory - own govt, planning, etc.

Another good lecture on diet can be found here...

  8. Perhaps they should implement the Pinky Show into the grade school curriculum?

If I could digress for a moment 40:38

The United States was supporting Ho Chi Minh? Yes Pinky, they were
